Cadillac has confirmed there will be a V-Series version of the Lyriq EV-SUV, and it will be coming to New Zealand in factory right-hand drive.
V-Series is Cadillac's highly regarded performance brand, similar to Audi RS, BMW M or Mercedes-AMG. While it's not well-known in this part of the world, it celebrates its 20th anniversary in the US this year.
Lyriq has just been launched in standard form in New Zealand, with pop-up test-drive locations and a full Experience Centre on the way for central Auckland.
The Lyriq V-Series is a 2026 model, which in American auto-calendar convention means it will be launched in 2025. The company has not released any details on specification or performance, but it should be a real rocket: even the standard Lyriq for NZ has 388kW/610Nm.
According to the company: "In the EV era, V-Series vehicles will be characterised by their exceptional performance, instantaneous acceleration, competitive range, and standard all-wheel drive."
The ultimate V-Series models also carry the name "Blackwing"; no word on whether that will be used for the EV lineup.
