Geely has confirmed a $51,990 entry price for its new EX5 pure-electric SUV for New Zealand. Following our preview drive of the new model in Australia last month, the EX5 will arrive in showrooms from April and can be pre-ordered at the official NZ dealer website.

That start price is for the Complete model. There's also a more highly specified Inspire for $55,990. Geely NZ says those numbers reflect "price parity... aligning with or sitting at a cheaper price-of-entry than some key ICE, HEV and PHEV midsize competitors."
What might those rivals be? Among pure-electric cars, the BYD Atto 3 ($55,990) and Leapmotor C10 ($54,990) stand out as key competitors. But as the company says, the aim is broader than that, including other models like our Car of the Year-winning BYD Sealion 6 PHEV ($56,990-$64,990).
The Complete comes a 15.4-inch central touchscreen, powered and heated front seats and up to 430km range (WLTP). The Inspire gets a panoramic and opening sunroof, six-mode massage front seats, and a 16-speaker sound system.

“We have a long-term plan for Geely NZ," says brand manager Jordan Haines. "We are fully committed to bringing a range of cars to best suit kiwi drivers. We can’t wait to see the EX5 out on New Zealand roads being experienced, driven and lived with every single day.”
The Geely EX5 NZ launch offer
Geely NZ has a launch offer the EX5 that includes a 3-year service plan up to 60,000km and free metallic paint (normally a $950 option). It runs from 12 March to 31 May 2025, or while stocks last.
The standard warranty package includes 7-year, unlimited-km cover, 8-year, unlimited-km battery, 7-year roadside assist and 2 years of connected car data.
Cars will be available for test drive at Giltrap Geely, 45 Great North Road, Grey Lynn, and Giltrap Christchurch 1/491 Waterloo Road, Islington, from April 15.
