The man largely responsible for making all those Holden Commodores ride and handle so well has joined GWM Australia and New Zealand, as part of the Chinese brand's drive to better tune its models for local roads.

GWM is on a drive to tune its models better for Australasian driving conditions (and habits!).

In hiring Trubiani, GWM says its objective is to "strengthen local engineering efforts with a view to further improving vehicle dynamics and, ultimately, customer experience across the region."

“We are delighted to have secured Rob as our new product engineering manager," says GWM head of marketing and communications Steve Maciver. "With a wealth of local ride and handling experience, we’re confident that Rob can help deliver an even better in-vehicle experience for our customers.”

Trubiani joined Holden straight out of university in 1996 and for the last 15 years of Holden's history he served as lead engineer for vehicle dynamics.

Trubiani had huge influence on the way Commodores drove.

More recently, Trubiani has held the position of senior mechanical engineer at global automotive engineering consultants Segula Technologies.

Trubiani commences his employment with GWM Australia and NZ in early April.
