A week after they outlined their upcoming 2019 Ranger line-up, Ford New Zealand have now confirmed pricing and equipment for the sequel to their current Kiwi sales hero.
Scheduled to come on sale in October 2018, Ranger pricing will kick off at $37,990 for the 2.2-litre two-wheel drive XL single cab. Double-cab pricing starts at $46,990 for a similarly outfitted 2.2-litre two-wheel drive XL, while entry-level four-wheel drive models come in at $49,990 for the 3.2-litre XL single cab and $55,990 for the 3.2-litre XL double cab.
The former range-topping 4WD Wildtrak double cab starts at $70,990 for the 3.2-litre six-speed, while a Wildtrack containing the same 2.0-litre BiTurbo donk and 10-speed automatic transmission as the Ranger Raptor is another $1000 on top. The full price list is available at the bottom of this story.
The general trend here is a price jump across the board with a few exceptions. The entry-level XL double cab is up by almost $500 over its current equivalent, while the Wildtrack has gone up by a similar amount. It's worth noting here that, as previously reported, there's no longer any manuals anywhere in the Ranger range.
But with those pricing changes comes several improvements to each model. The base XL gets an easy-lift tailgate and rear parking sensors for the first time, while the XLT gets HID headlights, LED daytime running lights, and keyless entry as maiden features.
For the Wildtrack, on top of being able to option it with Raptor engine and transmission bits, buyers also get new black 18-inch wheels, parallel-park assist, autonomous emergency braking, pedestrian detection, and a power-lock tailgate for the first time.
“The 2019 Ford Ranger builds upon its now legendary success, adding new levels of innovation and performance that our customers, no matter what their lifestyles require of their Ranger, will appreciate and value,” said Jeremy Nash, Light Commercial Marketing Manager, Ford New Zealand.
“At the foremost, ute customers are all looking for the best value for money with genuine, realworld capability,” added Nash. “The 2019 Ranger will continue to offer segment-leading capability and performance with improvements across the lineup to deliver the value Kiwis prioritise without compromise.”
