Ferrari has lifted the covers off the Amalfi, a sleek 2+ coupe designed to succeed the Roma, offering a fresh take on the Grand Tourer formula without skimping on style or substance.
With a twin-turbo V8 under that sculpted bonnet, the Amalfi promises to keep both heart rates and rev counters high.
Not your average Grand Tourer
At the core of the Amalfi is a 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 that cranks out a mighty 471kW at 7500rpm.
Thanks to a host of technical wizardry - including new turbo calibrations and lightweight camshafts - it sprints from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.3 seconds and tops out at 320km/h.
Ferrari’s eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, inherited from the SF90 Stradale, ensures shifts that are as smooth as they are swift.
The powerplant’s soundtrack hasn’t been neglected either. A redesigned silencer setup and equal-length headers help the Amalfi stay on the right side of regulations while delivering that unmistakable Ferrari snarl.
As Ferrari puts it, the car offers “high performance and immediate response in all conditions.”
Sculpted to thrill
If the Roma was elegant, the Amalfi adds a dash of aggression to the mix. The body, finished at launch in a striking Verde Costiera, boasts clean surfaces and sharp lines, punctuated by a long bonnet and a floating wing up front.
Out back, an active rear spoiler adjusts to conditions, offering low drag on straights and extra downforce in the corners - 110kg of it at 250km/h, to be precise.
The cabin follows suit with dual cockpits, premium materials and tech galore. There’s a trio of displays (one for the driver, one in the centre and one for the passenger), plus tactile physical buttons on the steering wheel. Practicality hasn’t been forgotten either, with the rear seats adding genuine day-to-day versatility.
Everyday usability, Ferrari style
Ferrari’s engineers have gone to town on dynamics and comfort. A brake-by-wire system, ‘ABS Evo’ controller and recalibrated electric power steering aim to make the Amalfi as composed in city traffic as it is carving through bends. Adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist and optional surround view cameras round out the tech arsenal.
And if you’re worried about speed bumps spoiling the fun, Ferrari offers an optional front lifter that raises the nose by 40mm at speeds up to 35km/h - just the ticket for urban sorties.
With its heady mix of luxury, tech and track-honed performance, the Amalfi looks set to hit that sweet spot between Ferrari showpiece and usable daily driver.
