No, this is not John's or McLaughlin's EH Holden. Be great if it was, though.

This year's Christmas Classic and Performance Live auction at Auckland company Sunday Drive features a couple of cars owned by A-listers - albeit from very different walks of life.

Sir Elton's 2004 Continental GT is remarkably restrained.

Among the $2.5m in vehicles up for auction until 7pm on December 10 are a Bentley Continental GT owned by musician Sir Elton John (estimated $50-$70k) and a very special Ford Mustang owned by racing driver Scott McLaughlin ($170-$180k).

The 2004 Continental GT is one of many Bentleys Sir Elton John has owned over the years; he's a big fan, apparently. The car comes with full documentation, proving ownership by the Rocket Man.

One of only 30 SM17 Mustangs brought to NZ - and owned/driven by the man himself.

Meanwhile, the 2021 Ford Mustang SM17 up for sale is named after and was personally owned by Scott McLaughlin. To celebrate his three Supercar Championship wins, Ford Australia commissioned "The Scott McLaughlin Limited Edition SM17 by Herrod Performance", of which only 130 were made.

Just 30 made their way to New Zealand, with this particular vehicle purchased by the McLauglin family and used by the legend himself when visiting home from US.

Other notable lots on offer include a rare American Airstream Caravan, 1932 Chevrolet Coupe Hot Rod and Daimler SP250 Dart.

All vehicles will be on display at Sunday Drive HQ from December 2, with a late night viewing also on Thursday December 5 from 6.00-7.30pm, at 363 Church Street Penrose. You can view the full catalogue here.
