Darker details, same electric coupe.

Darker details, same electric coupe.

  • Cupra has revealed a Black Edition version of its all-electric Tavascan SUV coupe.
  • The edition adds black exterior details, dark cabin materials and matt black alloy wheels.
  • Immersive and Adrenaline packs are required, adding comfort, technology and chassis features.

The Cupra Tavascan has gone to the dark side, and this time that is the whole point.

Cupra has confirmed a new Tavascan Black Edition, giving its all-electric SUV coupe a sharper visual treatment inside and out.

CUPRA gives Tavascan a darker electric edge

Revealed through Cupra's official media centre on 18 June 2026, the Black Edition expands the brand's growing line-up of blacked-out special editions. It does not turn the Tavascan into a new model, but it does give the coupe-shaped EV a moodier design brief.

Black, but not only black

Cupra Tavascan Black Edition

The headline finish is Midnight Black, which Cupra describes as the Black Edition's signature exterior colour. Buyers are not locked into that paint, however, as the edition remains available across the full Tavascan exterior colour range.

The darker treatment continues with black front bumper grilles, black exterior mirrors and black lower body claddings. Wheel choices include 20-inch HECKLA and 21-inch KATLA matt black sport alloy wheels, giving the Tavascan a more assertive stance without changing the underlying electric SUV coupe formula.

Inside, Cupra has leaned into dark materials rather than bright contrast. The cabin gains Fusion Metal detailing across the dashboard spine and door mouldings, plus black slush and PVC finishes. Black Soul bucket seats are trimmed in sustainable Dinamica upholstery, with Cupra pitching them as both supportive and comfort-focused.

Packs are part of the deal

Cupra Tavascan Black Edition

The Tavascan Black Edition is available with the Immersive and Adrenaline packs, and Cupra says those packs are required to equip the edition. The brand lists features including electrically adjustable front seats with memory and heating, immersive ambient lighting, a premium Sennheiser sound system, Dynamic Chassis Control, a panoramic sunroof and advanced driver information systems.

Cupra has not announced New Zealand pricing, local launch timing or market specification in this release. It has also not detailed any Black Edition-specific changes to range, battery capacity or power outputs, so the story here is design and equipment rather than a revised powertrain.

Another Black Edition joins the range

The Tavascan is Cupra's first fully electric SUV coupe, designed and developed in Barcelona and produced at Volkswagen Group's Anhui facility in China. Adding a Black Edition brings it into the same visual family as Cupra's other darkened specials, while keeping the brand's electrification push front and centre.

Production of the Tavascan Black Edition is due to begin this northern summer.
