A car has been caught driving at 163 km/h in thick fog on a Waikato highway this morning.
Police have blasted the driver saying conditions were so poor that even driving at the legal 100 km/h speed limit was too fast.
The white sedan was clocked at 163 km/h on State Highway One along the Waikato expressway.
"With 100-200m visibility in the fog the LEGAL speed LIMIT is NOT OKAY this morning in the Waikato," posted the highway patrol.
The male driver now faced a charge of dangerous driving and was stripped of his licence for 28 days.
Police said the car was not involved in a chase with the police allowing the car to come to him.
But police put out a stern warning not to copy this foolhardy example and to drive a lot safer than this man.
"Don't be this guy. Right now this guy wishes he wasn't this guy. #nomoredrivesies," police posted.
