Bugatti has revealed the Destrier, its third Programme Solitaire commission and a striking change of pace for the underpinnings of the track-focused Bolide.
While the Destrier retains the Bolide's carbon-fibre monocoque and 8.0-litre quad-turbo W16, producing 1177 kW, its emphasis shifts towards sculptural form, material detail and individual craftsmanship. Price, customer identity and road-certification status have not been disclosed.
A lower, more formal silhouette
Standing just one metre high, the Destrier keeps a dramatic relationship between its compact cabin and substantial 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels.
Bugatti has also redrawn one of its most recognisable signatures.
The C-line now pauses before the front wheel, then resumes at a wider interpretation of the horseshoe grille. At the rear, a blended wing recalls the Chiron Profilée rather than simply repeating the Bolide's circuit-led bodywork.
The changes turn familiar Bugatti elements into a distinct composition, without disguising the extreme platform beneath them.
Armour-inspired finishing
Sapphire Celeste paint gives the body a multi-layered finish, paired with polished aluminium brightwork. Exposed carbon fibre is deliberately restricted to the splitter and diffuser, where it is tinted to complement the paint rather than dominate the exterior.
A hammered metal treatment introduces another layer of texture, with its irregular finish referencing medieval armour and helping explain the Destrier name's equestrian character.
Craft carries into the cabin
Inside, Ambre Voyageur leather and nubuck are joined by a seamless 3D-knitted textile incorporating copper yarn.
The combination continues the exterior's contrast between advanced construction and traditional decorative craft.
Even the oil filler cap carries a dedicated 1/1 Destrier emblem, underscoring that this is a singular commission rather than a new production model.
The Destrier will make its public debut during Monterey Car Week, which culminates with the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on 16 August 2026.
