  • The full catalogue for one of the most valuable collections ever presented at a New Zealand auction has been revealed.
  • The auction will be held at the Ayrburn Classic event on Saturday the 21st of February 2026.
  • The line up of cars includes the legendary Lycoming Special that was raced by none other than Bruce McLaren.

The full catalogue for the auction taking place at the Ayrburn Classic on Saturday the 21st February has now been unveiled, with nearly $8 million worth of mouth-watering motor vehicles confirmed.

Being hailed as "one of the most extraordinary and valuable collections ever presented at a live auction in New Zealand" the line up of vehicles on offer has now been bolstered by a hand‑built recreation of Japan’s first supercar, the 1967 Toyota  2000 GT, combining period-correct artistry and exceptional craftsmanship, and an Aston Martin DB9 GT, the last and most refined naturally aspirated DB‑series model.

The absolute legend that is the Lycoming Special that was raced by none other than Bruce McLaren will undoubtedly be the star of the Ayrburn Classic.

The two new entrants join some standout entries including a matching pair of 1964 and 2014 white Ford Mustangs, a remarkable custom built Art Deco 1939 Ford Roadster, a 1963 Porsche 356 SC, one of only 20 right‑hand‑drive examples delivered new to New Zealand, with just 17 believed to remain, and the event headliner; the legendary Lycoming Special, raced by Bruce McLaren, Jim Clark, and Jim Boyd, complete with McLaren’s original engraved signature on the steering wheel.

No reserve headliners like a Ford F‑1 Bonus (estimated up to $130,000) and a Porsche 911 Carrera 4S (up to $180,000) are expected to spark some of the night’s most intense bidding.

One of just 20 RHD Porsche 356 SCs delivered new in New Zealand is also going under the hammer.

Held by Auckland-based classic car specialist Sunday Drive, the Ayrburn Classic Live Auction will be led by Robert Tulp, recognised as New Zealand’s number-one rated auctioneer, and prospective buyers will have various options to participate, including in-person attendance, online bidding, telephone bidding, or placing an absentee bid.

Enthusiasts and prospective buyers will have an opportunity to view the cars on offer at the auction during a four-day public preview, running from Wednesday, February 18th, through to Saturday, February 21st at the dedicated Sunday Drive showroom located within the Ayrburn grounds. The main auction event is set to commence at 5:00 pm on Saturday, February 21st, at the Dell arena.

According to the organisers, the evening is set to attract over 1000 guests, including collectors, motoring personalities, and international media, with live music, elevated hospitality, and Ayrburn’s signature food and wine creating a "truly world‑class atmosphere".
