  • Supported Audis can run the new Spotify app directly through their infotainment, without a tethered phone.
  • Music videos and real-time lyrics are hidden on the centre display whenever the car is moving.
  • The rollout covers selected 2026 models across 47 markets, with New Zealand availability still unconfirmed.

Audi drivers with compatible cars can now use a new Spotify app that runs on the car's own infotainment system, including music videos and lyrics when parked.

The app became available through the Audi Application Store on 21 October. It works without a phone connected to the car, although users still need a Spotify account. Downloading the app is free; costs depend on the market and tariff.

What changes when you drive

The centre MMI display gives users access to the full set of features and browsing while parked. Once the car is moving, music videos and real-time lyrics are hidden, and sign-in and settings become unavailable.

A supported front passenger display can retain those features on the move. That distinction lets passengers use their own screen while the centre display changes what it shows.

Spotify Jam also lets passengers join a shared play queue by scanning a QR code. The app includes Spotify DJ and support for Audi's Hey Audi voice control, adding ways to select music beyond browsing on the touchscreen.

Check the model before downloading

Audi, software company Cariad and Spotify developed the app for Android Automotive OS. It replaces the template-based approach of earlier apps with Spotify's fully native interface. Audi says it is the first carmaker to launch this fully native version.

The rollout covers supported 2026 model-year vehicles using Audi's PPE and PPC platforms: the A6 e-tron, Q6 e-tron, A5, Q5 and A6. The Q7 and Q9 will receive it at their respective launches.

The app is launching in 47 markets, including Australia. New Zealand availability has not been confirmed.
