Softer seats, smoother V8 delivery

Softer seats, smoother V8 delivery

  • DBX GT combines a 535kW twin-turbo V8 with new seats featuring 10mm of memory foam.
  • Additional sound insulation and laminated rear side glass accompany suspension and transmission changes aimed at comfort.
  • Global deliveries are scheduled for the final quarter of 2026, with NZ pricing yet to be disclosed.

Aston Martin has given its latest SUV a different brief: keep the V8 muscle, then make the journey more comfortable.

The new DBX GT joins the performance-focused DBX S, retaining a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing approximately 535kW and 900Nm. Its claimed top speed is about 311km/h, so the emphasis on refinement comes with plenty of performance in reserve.

The more relevant change for everyday journeys could be beneath the leather. Redesigned front and rear seats incorporate 10mm of memory foam, while the rear bench has two individually sculpted seating positions and retains accommodation for five occupants overall. A panoramic roof is standard.

A quieter conversation

Laminated rear side glass and extra sound insulation in the doors, wheel arches and luggage area tackle cabin noise. Aston Martin claims a 13% improvement in its Articulation Index, a measure of speech intelligibility. That describes how easily occupants can understand a conversation; it is not a claim that the car is 13% quieter.

The chassis has received attention too. Revised damper calibration and internal valves target the small, rapid vibrations that can make a road surface feel busy. Spring and roll stiffness remain controlled through the driving modes.

Aston Martin has also retuned the nine-speed wet-clutch transmission for smoother shifts. Revised transmission mount bushings draw on development work for the Valhalla, while two longitudinal dampers have been added to the rear body frame.

The exhaust has a dedicated quieter GT setting, with Sport and Sport+ retaining a fuller note.

Subtle changes outside

A revised double-vaned grille, metal side strakes and body-coloured lower bumpers, sills and diffuser distinguish the GT. Horizontally paired quad exhaust outlets complete the rear treatment. Standard wheels measure 22 inches, with 23-inch wheels optional.
