  • Alpine’s A310 Vision is an independent design concept inspired by the original sports car from 1971.
  • The aluminium-bodied concept measures 4.55m long and just 1.18m high, with a 2.45m wheelbase.
  • Pop-down headlights and a transparent split rear wing give the concept its own distinctive details.

Alpine has returned to the low, angular A310 for a new design concept, giving the 1971 sports car’s shape an aluminium body and headlights that drop down when the car starts.

Revealed on 12 October, the A310 Vision coincides with the original four-cylinder model’s 55th anniversary and the V6 version’s 50th.

Alpine’s designers kept an original A310 in their studio as a reference while developing the new car.

Alpine describes the Vision as an independent, one-off design exercise and explicitly says it does not preview a production model.

Low roof, broad rear

The Vision is 4.55m long, with a 2.45m wheelbase, and stands just 1.18m high. Its widest point is across the rear, at 2.03m. A bubble-like, semi-transparent cabin sits above the aluminium bodywork, while a black lower section draws on the organic shapes of Formula One cars.

Alpine used its APP platform to give the designers freedom over the proportions. The wheels carry triangular, A-shaped motifs that refer back to the early A310’s metal wheel designs, linking the new car to its studio reference through a small, recognisable detail.

Lights that drop, wing that splits

The headlight mechanism is one of the Vision’s more unusual details: the lights reveal themselves by dropping down at startup. An S-duct runs through the bonnet, alongside an aerodynamic element Alpine calls the Y-zero blade.

At the rear, a transparent wing is divided into two parts. Its shape takes inspiration from ice and mountains, with blade-like tail lights below it. The combination leaves the rear bodywork visible through the wing itself.

Inside the semi-transparent cabin, Alpine suggests organic seat forms and blocks of colour. Physical controls draw inspiration from hi-fi equipment, adding a different reference point to the cockpit.
