What were your needs when you bought this car? Has it fulfilled those needs?
A safe useful utility vehicle for transportation of larger items at times. Good fuel economy with reasonable comfort on long trips. Able to fit golf clubs and electric golf cart. The vehicle has fulfilled all these requirements with an average 7.5 L per 100 km.
What were your initial thoughts about the car? Tell us why it appealed to you.
Nice colour (red) metallic paint which drove well. The controls were easy to get used to and the dashboard layout was very functional. The car was clean and had a paint protection system which was a $500 extra.
What have you discovered since owning the car?
It has been very reliable with no faults. The paint finish is easy to keep clean. The rear seats fold down easily and there is good space for long loads. It has been easy to fit a child restraint seat with the isofix system. The driving auxiliary lights are useful to light up the road edges.
What do you like/dislike about the car?
That the digital clock dims when the headlights are on so it is not easy to tell the time. The reversing warning system can easily be deactivated in error. The boot cover attachment to the rear set head rests is a very old and finicky system. My wife’s 2002 Toyota Corolla has the same system. The wheel nuts tighten over time so the tyre lever provided cannot undo the nuts if you have to change a tyre puncture. I have a short pipe to extend the tyre lever to enable the nuts to be loosened. The ride on some rough surfaces is jiggly. The cruise control is not effective in maintaining a constant speed and is not adaptive to the speed of vehicles ahead. No blind spot monitoring and rear side approach warning system.
