What were your needs when you bought this car? Has it fulfilled those needs?

I was looking for a hot sports car to relive my youth that was within my budget. It had to be an eye-catcher, powerful, and fun to drive. It had to be mechanically sound and reliable. And to be a true sports car, it had to be a convertible - no hard-tops, thank you. The Porsche 718 Boxster S hit every one of my requirements.

What were your initial thoughts about the car? Tell us why it appealed to you.

It was love and first sight. With a low to the ground aggressive look, you could sense the pent upped power just waiting to be released. And it looked as hot as its flaming red colour It was love at first drive. The cockpit envelopes you. Pressing down on the accelerator, the G-force pushes you back into a body hugging leather seat making it feel like a fighter jet taking off. The sensation of speed is accentuated with the top down and wind rushing through your hair. Simply exhilarating. It's a Porsche. What's not to love.

What have you discovered since owning the car?

It's everything I dreamed I wanted in a car. There's really nothing like a mid-engine Porsche. The handling is sublime, the power is thrilling, the workmanship unsurpassed. Yes, it's more expensive to maintain than an everyday Honda. But, as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. When you pay a premium, you get premium. Porsche is premium.

What do you like/dislike about the car?

It's not really a dislike; more a concern that I have to plan carefully wherever I drive if I intend parking. No way will I park in a big parking lot full of other cars. There are too many inconsiderate people who open their car doors banging whatever is next to them. Or letting their shopping carts roll away ending up hitting some unsuspecting car a few spaces away. There is also the issue of vandalism. Because it is such an eye-catcher, it can draw attention from the wrong people if left unattended. Being a driver's car, I drive it. I don't park and leave it alone. When I do park it outside of my secure and enclosed home garage, I park it where no other cars will park next to it, and I can keep an eye on it at all times. What do I like about the car? That's easy. Everything.

Any other comments on the car?

These are tips I followed when buying my Porsche: 1. Buying a late model used Porsche will give you more bang for the buck than buying new. Why? All new cars, including Porsches, dramatically depreciate the moment you drive off the lot. Porsches are so well made, and change their styling much less frequently than most cars, buying used is a way to get a very new looking beautiful car at an affordable price. 2. Always ask to see maintenance & service records to verify all service was carried out as required by Porsche, and what maintenance was done. Most Porsche owners take very good care of their cars so they will likely have all those records. 3. To ensure you're getting a car in the best condition, avoid buying one that has been tracked a lot. Even a car that is tracked occasionally on weekends, will require a much closer look at things that are stressed and strained more when tracking it. 4. Get a pre-purchase inspection from a Porsche specialist mechanic.

Lastly, would you buy this vehicle again?

Yes

Why would/wouldn't you buy it again?

My car is a specialty car. I wasn't looking for an everyday driver, although it could be for someone not as particular about caring for it as I am. It's a niche car that will never appeal to the general public looking for transportation alone. Let's be honest. If you're looking for an Adrenalin pumping fun car that inflates your ego and doesn't require a second home mortgage to buy, then a used Porsche 718 Boxster S may be for you. So, would I buy it again? You bet I would - for all the same reasons I bought it in the first place.
