What were your needs when you bought this car? Has it fulfilled those needs?

We wanted a car that both of us would drive confidently- after a number of cars where only one was comfortable. Reasoning was that a car about as big as a Corolla but a little taller would do it. At the same time we wanted to be free of petrol. The electric is fine but one of us worries a bit that she cant see the edges. The on board cameras help but no visibility close up is not the best for all

What were your initial thoughts about the car? Tell us why it appealed to you.

Looked smart, has 300kms on the clock ex japan - whats not to like. It looked just like a new car.

What have you discovered since owning the car?

No Jack, No wheel spanner did not realise the ramifications of no spare wheel. Its easy to chew through a charge. Some difficulty on long trips. Best to buy a second-hand wheel, jack etc, boot lid and make a false floor for the wheel The head unit will always think that its in Japan and 25% of stuff doesn't work. The head unit will reboot whenever it wants to. Thank god for google maps.

What do you like/dislike about the car?

I like all the power is available when start off, no cold starts. Both of us love the one peddle driving. Its easy to put on charge when you know how. Easy entry /locking. Sits on the road nicley and very quiet on asphalt -Chip is horrible. Fitted a tow bar and it manages a trailer round town with no difficulty. But only the drivers window is able to used after switching off and before a door is opened. Is cramped up front and front seat is uncomfortable on long runs. If your last car was a Citroen Picasso you realise just how spartan the Leaf is. Very quiet and steady on asphalt - horrendous on chip road surfaces.

Any other comments on the car?

It felt that it was about $7k overpriced - but supply and demand meant we had to pay if we wanted it.

Lastly, would you buy this vehicle again?

No

Why would/wouldn't you buy it again?

Underneath the novelty of an electric car, it really is old tech. Little things like just blanking off where the ignition key would go if it used a key look shoddy and features that dont work on a import are annoying. Definitely would never buy a Jap import especially when it just has a 90 day warrantee.
