Kia Sorento

While Kia New Zealand has officially launched the Sorento today, the large SUV has already made an impact on its sales figures for 2015.

Priced from $49,990, the all-new Sorento is available in three powertrains – the existing 2.4-ltire petrol, a revised 2.2-litre diesel and a new 3.3-litre, V6 petrol, all paired with the carry over six-speed automatic transmission.

The Sorento has four model variants – the entry level LX, the EX, Limited and Premium.

Kia NZ’s managing director, Todd McDonald, told Driven at the launch that “more than” 100 models of the Sorento had been pre-sold through the company’s VIP test drive centre at its Highbrook, Auckland headquarters.

“The feedback from customers to the VIP centre have been very supportive of the new design quality.

“The biggest sellers so far have been the EX and the Premium models,” McDonald told Driven.

The launch of the vehicle had been delayed due to Cyclone Pam affecting shipment from Korea, but McDonald hopes that a continued high registration rate will place the Sorento in the top five models in New Zealand’s large SUV segment.
