Economy & ability to handle a caravan. Did both well. 7-8 L/100k in town, 6.5 L/100k open road. Plenty of power for hills or over taking. This car was impacted from behind at 80kmh. Destroyed car but I was unhurt. Every part of car was bent, from rear to B pillar. Total write off. So impressed, I replaced it with another the same

Chose Sante Fe for economy & ability to tow a uk caravan. @ 145kw it was better that ford, nissan, toyota & mazda. Car has good handling, comfort etc

What have you discovered since owning the car?

Afore mentioned car did the job so well, when written off in an accident, I replaced with the same model within a week

What do you like/dislike about the car?

The speedo’s on these cars reads too fast, meaning you are paying ruc on distance not actually travelled. I did correct issue on previous car by fitting higher profile tyres to make speedo accurate but haven’t done current vehicle. I do believe this is an issue with most vehicles nowadays

Any other comments on the car?

Good cars, very reliable if maintained correctly 1st Sante Fe had 260,000 km when written off Current car has 176,000. No issues with either.

Has it fulfilled those needs? Seven seater that could transport family and friends. Able to fit within budget and provide durability through a reputable brand. What were your initial thoughts about the car? Tell us why it appealed to you. Power, functionality, cost of ownership and life cycle. The styling at the time was appealing. Brand reputation was also solid. Price was middle of the range What have you discovered since owning the car? The car has been pretty reliable from a mechanical perspective. Operating costs are on even par with other vehicles we have owned. What do you like/dislike about the car? Dislike. The quality of the car is sub standard from a durability perspective. The leather seats, steering wheel degraded very early and just outside warranty. The paint is not the best and started to form surface rust after 6 years which is earlier than any car we have owned. Never lived by the sea. Reliability 4 Features/technology 3 Performance/economy 3 Value for money 3 Overall rating 3 Lastly, would you buy this vehicle again? No Why would/wouldn't you buy it again? Quality issues, there were many items that failed just outside warranty and they are now not cheap cars. Our trust in the brand has diminished due to out current experience with the car. Would look at other brands for next vehicle. Mantra always been get what you pay for and Hyundai doesn't live up to this in our experience.

Has it fulfilled those needs? Wanted a 7 seater with leather interior and good running costs. We also wanted tow bar, roof racks Etc to suit our lifestyle. The cat has more than me your needs - it has been fantastic, and at 140000 kms , we literally still see no need to replace it… What were your initial thoughts about the car? Tell us why it appealed to you. Liked the look with black mags and the full sports Fit out, the missus liked the heated and cooled seats, and phone connectivity. Adaptive cruise Control Is excellent… What have you discovered since owning the car? Surpassed expectations- fun to drive, large but feels compact and very responsive drive. The technology in new cars hasn’t progressed enough yet for us to consider trading, so will keep rolling for now… What do you like/dislike about the car? Dislike- cost of servicing and new tyres is brutal, and the phone connectivity plays up from time To time. Also had a few issues with the aircon. Any other comments on the car? Has it fulfilled those needs? Reliable family car. Safely able to transport us on long road trips with all the gear a family of 5 requires. What were your initial thoughts about the car? Tell us why it appealed to you. Lovely. Ex demo. Comfortable. We were very excited. It was our first new car. SUV worked for our families needs. What have you discovered since owning the car? It's engine blew up. It had debris in the engine due to the manufacturing process. This is an issue common to many Hyundai and Kia cars. What do you like/dislike about the car? Unreliable. Manufacturer knowing continued to sell vehicles with these defects. Despite us getting it serviced always at a Hyundai dealer they still argued that it was our fault. Any other comments on the car? It took 7 months of painful negotiations to get the engine replaced. We paid for labour. Hyundai paid for parts. There has been a successful class action in the USA and one underway currently in Australia. We will never buy Hyundai or Kia again. Terrible companies to deal with. We know several people directly who havd had similar experiences and thought it was just unlucky.
