Car was purchased to do extended road trips and tow a 1800kg boat on trailer. This was to replace my 1997 Toyota 3.0 litre diesel Surf with a car with more power and more comfortable driving over long distances.
What were your initial thoughts about the car? Tell us why it appealed to you.
Heaps more power than my 3.0 L diesel Toyota Hilux Surf. Very comfortable to drive with great fuel economy ( 5.9 L/100kms @90kph on motorway). More than enough power towing my 1800kg boat over the hills between Auckland and Little Huia ( Manukau Heads) and launching off the beach. Car has AWD and on demand 4WD so never and trouble launch/retrieving boat Power is similar to early 4.2L Toyota Landcruiser and and a 3.2L Ford Ranger. Very good fuel economy when towing.
What have you discovered since owning the car?
I have no problems with this car since I've owned, this is the R series diesel engine fitted to Santa Fe's and Kia Sorento's between 2010 and 2018.
What do you like/dislike about the car?
Nothing, this car does everything I want in the vehicle. Power, economy and comfort. I opted for the base mode with cloth seats and these have worn very well.
Any other comments on the car?
Engine is so powerful and economical it should be voted engine of the 2010-2020 decade.

This car has been very reliable with excel fuel economy normal driving and towing. It is the right length to fit into a standard 6m garage.
