What were your needs when you bought this car? Has it fulfilled those needs?
We're only a week into it but I thought we'd share initial impressions, and maybe update them in 6 months if you're interested. We're pensioners (late 70's), so the expenditure was a big decision. With all the confusion about the future of EVs vs Hydrogen, nevertheless it has become obvious that fossil-fueled cars will gradually be less and less acceptable on the roads. We couldn't afford new, and Hyundai's reputation and warranty on the battery helped seal the decision.
What were your initial thoughts about the car? Tell us why it appealed to you.
Slightly intimidating but pretty easy to drive after a little familiarisation. My wife is taking a little longer to get used to it but she's feels better with each drive she takes in it. We intended it as a replacement for her current car, but based on our experience to date we will use it whenever we can.
I'm 195cm tall and with the driver's seat set comfortably for me I can also sit behind it with knee-room to spare. I could, if so inclined, wear a hat (but I don't!). It's quiet, of course, and smooth, and the suspension is no bumpier than the two cars we already owned. Very happy in the first weeks of ownership.
What have you discovered since owning the car?
We may not even need a home charger. The 3-pin charger put 60 kms of range in the first night and 80 the second night - taking it to 100% and showing available range as 360km. We then did 115 km and available range showed 275km - a gain of some 30km of apparent range. Those 115 km were with aircon set at 22 degrees, the drive mode as eco (still plenty of power) and a broad mix including at least 70 kms of motorway driving in Auckland, much of it at the speed limit.
The regen is so easy to use and it genuinely works. Since we bought it we are averaging 13kWh per 100kms. While it is primarily my wife's car, it's unlikely that we will need a home charger at all. When it becomes our only car, the daily range might tick up a bit and then we'll look at it. And we joined Genesis and Chargenet, so when we do a trip the fees will be our domestic power rates, including discounted night rates. Both Genesis and Chargenet made the sign-up easy and stress-free.
What do you like/dislike about the car?
Dislikes are few. The exterior door-handles are difficult to use one-handed. There's no spare.
Likes are plenty. Heaps of room. Quiet and smooth. Very economical. No pollution as we drive. Charging even easier than we expected. I have been an enthusiastic driver all my life, and have owned some powerful cars (and driven them hard). So far this car seems to have a calming effect on me and using adaptive cruise control is keeping me inside speed limits and making for economical and less-stressful driving. Long may it continue says the other half.
Any other comments on the car?
It's way too soon to talk about reliability but the lengthy warranty on the battery gives us comfort.

Lastly, would you buy this vehicle again?
Yes
Why would/wouldn't you buy it again?
We hope it will see us out. Our current cars have 160,000 and 220,000 kms on them respectively, at 21 and 13 years of age respectively. So we don't expect to buy another, but we would in a heartbeat. Better for the economy (fossil fuels eat up foreign exchange). Better for the air quality (no fumes). Lovely to drive. Plainly handsome so looks shouldn't date in our lifetime, for what that's worth.
