needed a classic type V8 that sounded like a V8. good travelling car roomy comfortable yes but improved sound with new exhaust which was added once out of warranty. Its a fantastic car I love it.

What were your initial thoughts about the car? Tell us why it appealed to you.

big and beautiful great colour good finish seats nice especially the front ones. Comfortable good sound surprised at the power

What have you discovered since owning the car?

its still big and beautiful still one of the best looking cars on the road. It has only got better with age

like everything except would prefer a better sat nav and the drink holders arent in the best position for a short person.

as long as petrol wasnt about to run out I would buy again it seems a little socially unacceptable but I still love it

(including all on-road costs) 8000 What were your needs when you bought this car? Has it fulfilled those needs? I wanted a Ute to shift from Auckland to Dunedin. It had to be a nice driver, and it didn't have to be too big. What were your initial thoughts about the car? Tell us why it appealed to you. It was a very nice car to drive, in pretty good condition for it's age, and it put a smile on my face. What have you discovered since owning the car? 3 warrants of fitness, and barely any issues. It has been very reliable, and very enjoyable to drive. Apparently, mine has the better model engine for the era. What do you like/dislike about the car? I like how it handles on the road. I like how the colour stands out. I dislike the size, but only because I don't need all the room any more. (including all on-road costs) 21000 What were your needs when you bought this car? Has it fulfilled those needs? Seat 3 kids in the back. Good luggage space. Be able to tow the caravan or a trailer. Needed to be comfortable and safe and reasonably economical. Has been excellent. Does all we need. What were your initial thoughts about the car? Tell us why it appealed to you. Had a VZ wagon before this but at 250000km (fairly trouble free) it was time to upgrade. We looked at several medium size SUV's like CX5, RAV4 and Outlander but the back seat was a bit tight and we thought that they might struggle a bit being fully loaded and towing a loaded caravan. My wife and I liked the Holden we had so looked at newer versions. Fuel economy was still ok and they had the space we needed. We found one locally that had done under 100000km and really liked the way it drove and how comfortable it was for all five of us. A big step up from the VZ. What have you discovered since owning the car? Great car to drive. Smooth and enough power when needed. Surprisingly economical, especially on a long trip. Well put together. Sheet of ply or gib doesn't fit in the back. It did in the old one. Tyres are much more expensive, though they last well. What do you like/dislike about the car? Like the handling and style. Smooth, quiet and relaxed. Rarely need more than 3000rpm. Economy good for its size and much better than the VZ. 8-9l/100km on the open road and around 11 in town. Car has done about 11700 km now. Nothing squeaks or rattles even with our poor Northland roads. Seems well built and reasonably hard wearing except for the external rubber trim strips which need a regular coating of rubber rejuvenator to keep them looking ok. The only dislikes are that the size of the A pillar creates quite a big blind spot that you have to be constantly aware of in town, the boot isn't as big as it first seems because of the sloping shape of the hatch, though that's only been an occasional issue and the factory stereo is a bit weak. Certainly not as good as the one in the VZ Any other comments on the car? Really happy with it so far. We are glad we got this rather than an SUV. Not planning to sell for a few years yet. Fuel economy not too much of an issue as we do well under 10000km a year. Not many wagons of this size on the market now, and rear drive. Perhaps that's why the prices for these seemed to have climbed in the last couple of years. A little concerned about parts availability in a few years. Ok at the moment while the Police still have a few. But GM doesn't have a good track record for parts. Infotainment system is showing its age, works ok but doesn't have the features of newer cars. No Why would/wouldn't you buy it again? Unfortunately not made any more otherwise I would have said yes. While I like the newer model petrol prices are only going to keep going up. Also by the time we are ready to change cars two of the three kids will have left home. Will probably be some sort of hybrid next. They're getting better all the time. Especially for towing.
