Did you buy this car new or used?
New
How much did you pay? (including all on-road costs)
$72,000
What were your needs when you bought this car? Has it fulfilled those needs?
A safe and comfortable car that had good technology and hybrid performance. Yes it has met our expectations. It handles New Zealand roads well and the economy meets guidelines. I enjoy driving this car... it is a quiet and comfortable car to drive long distances.
What were your initial thoughts about the car? Tell us why it appealed to you.
Its technology appealed as well as its styling. Its a good looking car! I did a lot of research about new vehicles available at the time and the Ford Escape had the shortest delivery time as well as features that appealed. Hybrid technology was one of the reasons we bought the vehicle.
What have you discovered since owning the car?
You can only charge it in the home garage and this requires an electrician to come and fit a charging station. Software challenges meant that the plug in charging could not be used for a month which was concerning / annoying
What do you like/dislike about the car?
The charging can only be done at home. While it does have a plug in cord for away from home charging this is not always as convenient as a pubic charging station. It would be good if you could use some of the charge networks. Some minor recalls have been necessary to update software etc associated with the battery and the charging system
Any other comments on the car?
Good space and easily accessible storage. Lots of places to put stuff

Lastly, would you buy this vehicle again?
Yes
Why would/wouldn't you buy it again?
Yes I would buy another one. The new model still looks great and some advances in technology / styling are appealing. Hopefully issues with charging software have been sorted.
