Tech giant joins PlayStation’s elite design club.

  • Xiaomi is the first tech brand to contribute a car to the Vision Gran Turismo programme.
  • The electric concept targets aerodynamic balance, claiming a 0.29 drag coefficient.
  • Features include Active Wake Control and aerodynamic wheel design to manage airflow.

Xiaomi has taken its next step into performance car culture. Virtually, at least.

The Chinese technology brand has unveiled the Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo, a concept electric hypercar created for Gran Turismo 7.

It marks Xiaomi as the 36th brand to join the long-running Vision Gran Turismo programme and notably the first technology company to contribute to the project. The milestone comes on the heels of the SU7 Ultra's historic in-game debut.

Unveiled by Xiaomi EV design head Tianyuan Li, the concept is described as “a hypercar sculpted by the wind”, with a form shaped almost entirely by airflow management.

Sculpted for balance, not brute force

The Vision Gran Turismo adopts a teardrop-style cockpit integrated into a body carved with ducts and cutouts that double as aerodynamic channels. A halo-shaped rear light serves a functional purpose too, acting as a large air outlet.

According to Xiaomi, features such as its Active Wake Control system and accretion rims help the concept achieve a drag coefficient of 0.29 while maintaining meaningful downforce. The goal, Li explained, was to resolve a core EV hypercar dilemma.

“Electric hypercars must answer a fundamental question,” he said. “Do we pursue extreme low drag for straight-line speed, or maximum downforce to conquer corners? The optimal solution lies in finding the perfect balance between the two.”

Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi added: “When I saw that Xiaomi had resolved the contradiction between low drag and high downforce, I was truly amazed.”

A ‘Sofa Racer’ interior

Inside, Xiaomi introduces what it calls the “Sofa Racer” concept.

The cabin forms a continuous loop across dashboard, doors and seats, creating a cocoon-like environment.

Integrated systems such as Xiaomi Pulse interact through light and sound, while full integration with the brand’s “Human x Car x Home” ecosystem allows the vehicle to sense and adapt to the driver’s mood.

While strictly a virtual creation, the Vision Gran Turismo builds on Xiaomi’s growing automotive ambitions following the Nurburgring success of the SU7 Ultra. It will be displayed at Mobile World Congress 2026, even if its true playground remains digital tarmac.
