We theorized that there might be more than one modified Kia Stinger GT on show at this week's SEMA event in Las Vegas when West Coast Customs revealed their plans to dump one on its guts a few weeks ago.
Well, not only have the first images of the deep blue WCC creation (or 'whip' as X-to-the-Z Xzibit would say), but images of another modified Stinger GT have been released too.
This mystery Stinger is named the 'Federation', and represents a more 'off the shelf' look.
I don't mean that in a derogatory way — Kia here are trying to showcase the parts that Stinger owners will be able to access with ease (American owners, anyway). Things like the Air Design USA bodykit, lowered ride height, and the 20-inch TSW wheels ... as well as the bits under the skin that you can't see.
Those bits include Eibach springs, a K&N cold-air intake, and a Borla exhaust package that gifts the sports sedan's twin-turbo 3.3-litre V6 with an additional 11kW.
The West Coast Customs machine meanwhile sits at the other end of the scale; featuring a plethora of custom-made pieces headlined by a wide-body kit that the Kia's lines wear very well. It's a kit that looks almost natural until you pan around to the back of the car. That's where the smooth lines all point to a gruff, aggressive rear diffuser.
The suspension is lowered here too (35mm at the front and 30mm at the back), helping the Stinger sit nicely on those 21-inch Keen forged wheels.
It all counts as further evidence of Kia's push to set the tone for their new Stinger GT. The model has already been met with critical acclaim in the overseas markets that have sampled it (New Zealand is still waiting), and the marque are milking the praise for all its worth.
For Kia, SEMA won't just be these two cars sitting on display. They've also set up a driving course utilizing Formula Drift pilots like Matt Powers to try and give the industry and the public a practical showcase of what the car can do. Kia's 2017 SEMA experience is "the top auto enthusiast's playground", according to marketing vice president Saad Chehab.
That remains to be seen. But what we do know is that the already handsome Stinger looks even better dressed up.
