Everyone's favourite ragtag group of incredibly-attractive-social-outcast-misfits-who-like-cars are back for the latest film in the Fast and Furious franchise; Fate of the Furious.
The film title isn't just a kind of cleverish pun around this film being the eighth in the series. It's also a pointer to the main plot twist. That's right, the Furious writers have gone all M. Night Shyamalan on us!
Dominic Cornetto, the long-standing alpha leader of the group, has turned on the crew and joined a most likely disposable enemy pact headed by that actress from Aeon Flux.
In all honesty, the Furious films are among my favourites in a very guilty pleasure kind of vain. They can be extremely silly (I count three set pieces and one quite dry Jaws reference that caused the rolling of eyes behind this monitor), but good simple entertainment often is.
All up, the new trailer looks set to deliver on its traditional, tried and true recipe — fast cars, incredible special effects, gratuitous shots of scantily clad women dancing in slow motion, Vin Diesel and co saying the word ‘family’ at least 300 times, and almost no plot what so ever.
