Queensland Raceway is one of those 'more than meets the eye' race tracks. On one hand, it looks as boring and simple as sin from above — lovingly (or not so lovingly) referred to as 'The Paperclip' by many because of its shape. On the other hand, it's actually quite a terrifying track due to the abundance of bumps in the surface through turns one and two; both of which conveniently represent the most high-speed corners on the circuit.

With the track also representing a test track for a bulk of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship grid, it's a perfect place to take people out for hot laps. Enter Kiwi Scott McLaughlin, with his father Wayne.

The key to a cracking on-board hot-lap video is being able to pinpoint the exact moment when the passenger realises the scale of what they've agreed to. And thankfully this comes quite early in the clip, as McLaughlin senior drops what is quite clearly a large F-bomb. Not that we can hear him over the sound of McLaughlin junior's Shell V-Power Falcon.

On tyres that Scott labels "no good", the subsequent laps aren't exactly the cleanest — the Falcon's rear end lighting up out of almost every corner. But, it's clear that both occupants are having plenty of fun regardless.

"The best thing about memories is making them,” said Scott on social media. "Today I made some by showing mum and dad what I do for a job, plenty of drifting! Thanks for making me the person I am today! Priceless!"
