While driving on the beach can be an extremely enjoyable experience, it should only ever be done with an all-wheel drive vehicle to avoid situations like this one.

Earlier this week, a video emerged out of Australia showing a Maserati Ghibli that's obviously way out of its depth on the soft sand, wearing low-profile tyres that are wrapped around its large wheels.

Instead of leaving the six-figure Italian sedan stranded on the beach, the owner seeks out a fellow beachgoer with a 4x4 ute. But what happens next defies common sense to the nth degree.

Instead of seeking out the tow point at the front of the Ghibli, the strap was obviously just wrapped around the bumper, and instead of taking the slack out of the strap slowly, the ute pulled off at speed.

This recipe of bad ideas left the Maserati without a front bumper, and would be an easy situation to avoid if these guys thought to seek out the Ghibli's manual and locate the tow hook.

Let's just hope that a lesson was learnt this day, and no more innocent exotics will have to lose bumpers at their negligence.
