A Ferrari mechanic suffered a fractured shinbone and fibula after accidentally being run over by Kimi Raikkonen during the Bahrain Grand Prix on Sunday.
Following a pit stop, the Ferrari driver mistakenly made contact with a member of his team.
Raikkonen was forced to retire from the race following an issue with his rear left tyre.
Raikkonen had entered the pits in an attempt to put pressure on Mercedes.
The 38-year-old was given the green light to leave the Ferrari garage before the incident occurred and he was subsequently forced to stop in the pitlane.
Raikkonen wasn't especially apologetic when he commented on the incident after the race.
He said: 'I don't know. Obviously, I don't know what shape he is in. Not great for him that is for sure.
'I go when the light is green and I don't see what happens behind.
'Unfortunately he got hurt but my job is to go when the light goes green. I don't know more than that. I didn't finish the race so it is not great.
The injured mechanic has been taken to hospital for treatment.
Raikkonen finished in third place in the opening race of this year's F1 calendar in Australia.
