Rodrigo Duterte, the President of the Philippines wants to show the world that he's not messing around when it comes to illegally imported cars in his country.

This poor Ferrari 360 Spider met an unfortunate end when a massive bulldozer was driven over it, leaving the expensive Italian car as nothing more than a twisted heap of metal.

According to the Philippine Star, the now-squashed 360 Spider had been "misdeclared as auto parts", and subsequently destroyed to serve as a "warning to smugglers."

In their report, the Star talks about how the car arrived in the country in May, and was estimated to be worth around seven million Phillipine pesos. Strangely, they felt the need to add "before being crushed, which significantly reduced its value," at the end, as if it wasn't obvious enough.

Other reports detail the situation a little better, revealing that the smugglers declared the car as auto parts when it was imported, in order to avoid the steep luxury vehicle taxes in the country.

Once discovered by the local customs service, the car was quickly destroyed by a massive bulldozer with the whole process being documented so the rest of the world could see.

While Duterte is certainly making a statement by releasing this video to the world, we can't help but feel sorry for the 360 Spider. Surely auctioning the car off and putting the funds back into the country would've been a better idea, but what do we know.
