Tesla might be the hottest topic in the automotive world of late, but questionable build quality continues to tarnish the American brand, with the brand new Model Y being the biggest offender.
Paint issues, misaligning body panels, and dodgy interior quality have plagued the Model Y since its launch, but a recent video out of America highlights a brand new issue with the EV — a disappearing roof.
Hey @elonmusk why didn't you tell us that Tesla sells convertibles now? Because the roof of our brand new model Y fell off on the highway pic.twitter.com/s8YNnu7m9L

According to the Reddit user, their dad had just purchased the car, and had asked them to go along in case they ran into any technical issues. After a few miles of highway driving, the pair noticed a lot of wind noise.
All the windows were checked and closed, but the noise remained, and a few moments later the glass roof peeled back and got ripped off the top of the car, flying back onto the tarmac.
Thankfully, no one was injured by the flying glass roof, but if this had happened at a busier time on the highway, the outcome could've been very different.
The duo immediately went back to the dealership and reported the incident to local authorities. While no injuries were reported, it's unclear as to whether the debris damaged passing vehicles.
Despite tagging Elon Musk in the Tweet, the Tesla CEO still hasn't commented on the incident.
