Jay Leno and Tim Allen face off in a battle of the sleepers
The Toyota Camry isn't exactly renowned for its sporting prowess — particularly when it comes to straight-line combat. But Jay Leno's deceptive current-generation Toyota Camry is just a little bit different.
Revealed at SEMA in 2014, it is anything but stock. Looking as plain as any other Camry from outside, underneath its funny-car style body it houses a supercharged 630kW 5.7-liter TRS V8 engine from a Toyota Tundra. A tickle of nitrous only further adds to the silliness of what is one of the best sleepers in the world (though, clearly not the best ever).
Talk-show host and certified petrol head Leno now owns the Camry; one of the dozens and dozens of incredible cars in his collection. Meeting up with fellow television-star come petrol head Tim Allen, Leno is quick to challenge Allen and his Ford Club Coupe to a cheeky drag race.
The Coupe naturally isn't stock either, fitted with an engine from a Ford GT supercar. But, it was never going to stack up with what's most likely the quickest Camry on the planet.
Almost as cool as the Tarmac face-off is the simple vision of Leno and Allen chit chatting about motoring. These are two high profile members of American popular culture, and they're talking about nerdy crap that we love!
Maybe they should bring back Top Gear USA for these two ...
