If you're familiar with SEMA (or Specialty Equipment Market Association), you'll know that it is where manufacturers and tuners from all over the world flock to see what can be built on four wheels.
Over the past couple of days, millions of dollars worth of custom vehicles have been filling up the Las Vegas Convention Centre, but unfortunately, it hasn't been smooth sailing for everyone.
Late last week, Quintin Brothers Auto and Performance had their 1000hp Dodge Challenger stolen while it was sitting in a car park. According to the report, it was inside a box trailer, but had its keys inside.
As soon as the brothers noticed their car missing, they reported it to local police, who set about hunting it down. One officer spotted the car inside a hotel car park, but was hit by the driver before they drove off out of the building. Luckily the officer escaped without injury, but the Challenger wasn't so lucky.
With its newly-acquired damage, the thief must have figured that the car was too obvious, and despite a police pursuit involving 14 police cars, the Challenger was too quick, and was able to get away. After this pursuit, the crook dumped the Challenger in a local parking lot.
While the crook wasn't able to be found, the Quintin Brothers were reunited with their beloved Challenger, and despite its front end damage, was still able to be driven. Because of this, the car will still be displayed at the show complete with police tape and all.
"We were in shock, we couldn't imagine that anything like this could ever happen. It looks like they were living in the thing, but they only had it for about 11 hours," Cole Quintin told local police.
The car might have made it to the show, but the thief remains at large, and cops are still searching for him.
