VW NZ lists diesel models affected by emissions software issue
Volkswagen AG in Germany has confirmed the total number of New Zealand diesel vehicles affected by the emissions software issue to date is 5,548.
This software in question causes discrepancies in the values for oxides of nitrogen (NOx) during emission testing in 4 cylinder 2.0 & 1.6 TDI diesel engines, (engine code name Type EA 189). These engines are found in the following 4 cylinder TDI diesel Volkswagens:
The operation of an affected vehicle is not impaired and can be used as usual without restrictions. Volkswagen NZ is in the process of contacting affected customers and informing them of the next steps. A Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) look-up is also available for customers on the Volkswagen NZ website.
Volkswagen AG in Germany is working as quickly as possible to find a technical solution and once that is known, customers will be informed of the action plan to remedy their vehicles.

Further updates would be released as the company works through the issue.
The table shows known affected vehicles sold as new in New Zealand.
VW NZ said it ws continuing to work with the NZTA to clarify used imports.
