We’ve been talking about it for the best part of two years, but Volkswagen New Zealand has finally confirmed the ID.Buzz will be available here in early-2025.
Spiritually an EV reboot of the classic Kombi and technically another model on VW Group’s MEB pure-electric platform (ID.4/5, Skoda Enyaq and Cupra Born), ID.Buzz will be be available as a straight commercial vehicle or a people-mover with 5, 6 or 7 seats.
“The Kombi became one of our greatest stories, filled with fond memories that Kiwis to this day hold close to their hearts,” says Kevin Richards, general manager of Volkswagen NZ Commercial Vehicles. “Fully reimagined, the ID.Buzz is an electric vehicle for future generations, and will continue to shape our legacy.”
The cargo version offers a 650kg payload and space for two Euro-size pallets. The ID.Buzz cargo won International Van of the Year (IVOTY) in 2023.
It features a minimalist interior concept, IQ.Light LED matrix headlights that give you a “friendly eye blink on arrival” and the largest sunroof ever to make its way into a Volkswagen.
The company is yet to share final specifications or pricing, but promises an “early 2025” launch for ID.Buzz.
