Volkswagen is the latest manufacturer to reveal a fully electric vehicle that is going to debut at the Shanghai Auto Show in a few days.
Alongside Great Wall's fully electric double cab ute, the German manufacturer is set to present the Roomzz — latest member of the electric ID line-up.
With more interior space then space than the Volkswagen Touareg, the ID. Roomzz measures 4915mm long, by 1890mm wide, and 1760mm tall. The Roomzz' wheelbase is also slightly longer than the Touareg's, with 2965mm compared to the conventionally powered SUV's 2893mm.
Featuring two electric motors that have a combined power output of 225kW, the concept will get to 100km/h in a respectable 6.6 seconds.
The two motors are fed by an 83kWh battery pack that's mounted underneath the floor, and has a claimed driving range of 450km.
In terms of charging, the ID is compatible with 150kW DC fast charging, which allows the battery pack to recharge up to 80 per cent in just 30 minutes.
Volkswagen's innovation continues throughout the interior of the Roomzz as well, offering six different seating configurations that can be adapted to the current mode. When the Level four autonomous driving technology is engaged, the seats can be rotated 25 degrees inward to create a more social atmosphere.
A new material called "AppleSkin" covers the seats, and is said to have been created from renewable raw materials.
While the Roomzz concept is still very much just a concept, Volkswagen is expected to bring it into production by 2021.
