EV chargers within reach
Auckland electric vehicle motorists can now drive the length of Vector’s electricity network, from Wellsford to Papakura, confident they are within reach of a Vector EV charger.
To further enhance Vector’s commitment to encouraging the uptake of EVs, the company has made it easier for customers to find their closest charging station by launching an interactive map on its webpage (vector.co.nz/evcharging).
Chief Executive Simon Mackenzie said: “Thanks to Vector’s charging network, EVs are becoming as convenient as fossil-fuel powered cars, while saving drivers thousands of dollars in fuel bills and preventing thousands of tonnes of CO2 from being released into the environment.”
He said the interactive map would be a key tool for the growing number of EV enthusiasts.
It showed the location of all of Vector’s EV chargers, the closest, the type of chargers, directions to them and locations soon to have chargers.
It was also an open platform allowing others — such as network operators — to post their chargers on the map.
The map will be developed to allow EV drivers to see whether the rapid chargers are free or busy and it will be developed into an app.
Vector has charging stations in Newmarket and Hobson St in central Auckland, the Plant Barn Silverdale, McDonald’s Greenlane, Britomart Carpark, Vodafone Events Centre, and the Northwest shopping centre.
Rapid chargers will soon be available at the Auckland Airport Shopping Centre and at BP Pakuranga.
