Alfa Romeo has revealed a pair of light weight models celebrating the company's historic bonds with one of the world's most challenging race tracks and the location of the company's first Grand Prix race victory, the Nürburgring in Germany.

Both models have already proven themselves around the current 20.8km Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit, with Alfa's new SUV and sedan holding current lap records. The Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio holds the record for its segment with a lap time of 7 minutes 51.7 seconds, while the Giulia Quadrifoglio's official time of 7 minutes 32 seconds stands as the fastest time by a rear-wheel drive production car.

The Stelvio and Guilia Quadrifodlio NRING editions will be limited to 108 cars per model for the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa), one for each year of Alfa Romeo's history. Intended for collectors and Alfa Romeo's most loyal customers, the new limited editions feature a numbered badge in the carbon fibre dashboard insert and Circuito Grey paint, exclusive to NRING models.

NRING models will also be fitted with lashings a carbon fibre components making the pair lighter than standard models. Both come with with carbon-ceramic brakes, carbon shell Sparco racing seats, carbon Mopar gear leaver with carbon inserts and leather and Alcantara steering wheel with carbon inserts.

The front badge and the rearview mirror caps are also made of carbon fibre, as are the side skirt inserts.  Inside the NRING editions feature tinted windows, Adaptive Cruise Control, the Harman Kardon premium audio package, and Alfa's Connect 3D Nav infotainment system with 8.8-inch screen. The Giulia model premieres the new bare carbon roof, while the Stelvio is equipped with electrically operated panoramic sunroof.

Both models are powered by the same twin-turbo 2.9-litre V6 with 375kW and 600Nm, and paired with a 8-speed ZF automatic that'll shift cogs in 150 milliseconds in Race mode. Both cars incorporate Alfa Chassis Domain Control, which coordinates all the on-board electronic systems including torque vectoring, active suspension and DNA drive modes.

The rear-wheel drive Guilia sedan will accelerate to 100km/h in 3.9 seconds and onto a top speed of 308km/h, while the all-wheel driven Stelvio SUV is a touch quicker to 100km/h in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of  283km/h.

Along with the carbon extras and special badging, NRING customers will receive training around the track their car's named after and one of the best goody bags Alfa has ever offered. First, all NRING owners will then be offered the chance to attend a sports driving technique course on the Nürburgring circuit in 2019.

But before their real car arrives, all 216 owners will first be given a numbered 1:18 scale model. Upon collection they'll receive a second kit with Sparco racing gloves, customised soft shell jacket, sports bag in the Alfa Romeo pattern, Quadrifoglio cuff-links and a pair of race boots created by Car Shoe.

All NRING versions will also have a specific “Authenticity Certification” issued by FCA Heritage, the department that promotes the historic record of the FCA Group's Italian brands. And every owner will receive a kit comprising the authenticity certificate issued by the constructor, a numbered certification plaque matching the car's chassis number, a book of photographs and the technical specification.

The asking price for the car and package? Alfa Romeo won't tell us yet.

But we do know the Stelvio Quadrifoglio NRING and Giulia Quadrifoglio NRING Nürburgring will make their public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July, where pricing and availability is expected to be confirmed.
