Toyota has announced that it will be holding a live-stream event for the reveal of its all-new sports models this week.
The company will live stream the "All-new Sports Models World Premiere" from 11:00am on December 5, JST (3:00pm NZST), where it is expected to reveal the new Toyota GR GT and its Lexus equivalent, which is as-yet unnamed.
Toyota released a shadowy teaser photo of three cars, featuring what is likely to be the production GR GT front and centre, with the Lexus to the left and what would appear to be a competition version to the right, given its aggressive stance and profusion of intakes.
Using the time-honoured tradition of cranking up the brightness and winding down the contrast, we can see a roll cage and some Michelin Pilot Sport racing slicks on the rear car, while the Lexus version gets a considerably more angular design, with a unique rear window.
Like the brilliant GR Yaris, the GR GT's development has been led by the racing variant, with the road-going models being derived from there.
While Toyota hasn't been shy about letting the GR GT appear in public - we've seen the car testing on track all year, and the company recently took camouflaged versions to the Goodwood Festival of Speed - very little technical details are known about it.
The GR GT, along with its Lexus and racing siblings, is expected to be powered by a twin-turbo V8 with a hybrid assist system, and will become the flagship model for Toyota’s Gazoo Racing performance arm.
The world premiere will be live streamed (with English interpretation) on the official Toyota Motor Corporation YouTube channel.
