Moffat Bathurst victory celebrated with new Tickford Mustang.
Automotive engineering and testing company Tickford has revealed a special edition Mustang commemorating one of the most famous one-two finishes in Bathurst History.
Partnering with the great Allan Moffat, the Tickford Bathurst ’77 Special Mustang pays homage to the Falcon XC Hardtop Jacky Ickx and Moffat drove to victory in the 1977 Bathurst 1000, followed home by another XC driven by Colin Bond and Alan Hamilton.
“It is hard to believe it has been 40 years since Colin and I finished 1-2 at Bathurst but while I recall the race as if it were yesterday, it is nice to know it holds such a special place with so many people all these years on,” said Allan Moffat.
Modelled after the livery driven to victory that day, the ’77 Special Mustang package will be limited to just 77 units.
The package includes a full ECU re-tune and high-performance supercharger that will be fitted to the Ford Mustang GT’s stock 5.0-litre engine and offer a significant increase in power and torque.
All Bathurst ’77 Special vehicles will be white, fitted with a full decal kit, 20-inch alloy rims painted in a unique shade of gold like the original racer and optional race numbers and replica rear wing.
The interior will also feature a range of details honoring the 1977 race winner. The original XC Hardtop will be represented with red and blue stitching on the bucket seats, a bespoke steering wheel and signature Allan Moffat cabin badging.
“The team at Tickford have done a very thorough job coming up with a modern interpretation of my 1977 XC Hardtop,” said Mofat
“While the Falcon has sadly been consigned to the history books, the Mustang was always one of my favourite cars to race and I had considerable success in them.”
“The Tickford Bathurst ’77 Special looks amazing, produces an unbelievable amount of power and the finish across all areas of the vehicle highlights why the return of Tickford is so important for the Australian automotive industry. These guys know what they are doing and it shows in this special edition.”
Full details of the Tickford Bathurst ‘77 Mustang's specification will be announced closer to its public debut latter this year.
