"My motto has always been; don't just dream it, achieve it."
He might be out of a drive in the World Rally Championship, but few Kiwi racers could claim to be as busy as Hayden Paddon.
The 'kid from Geraldine' may soon have to trade that pseudo tag-line in favour of something a bit more Cromwell based. That's where he and his Paddon Rallysport squad now reside, propped up next to Highlands Motorsport Park.
The move is part of an overarching plan to grow a local (perhaps eventually global) motorsport superteam. Paddon Rallysport has already shown an interest in both rallying and touring cars, but naturally it's going to be a long journey.
As part of the journey, Hayden and the Paddon Rallysport squad are releasing DRIVEN — The Paddon Rallysport Story; a series of mini-series video documentaries beautifully filmed by Jack Smith of MA Media. The series will lead into the release of Paddons upcoming autobiography, which is also titled DRIVEN (what a name, eh?).
Episode one of the series — titled 'The Building Blocks' — touches on Paddon's history, the move to Highlands, and gives a unique look behind the scenes at the team's New Zealand Rally Championship preparations.
You can watch the episode in full above. Episode two is set to follow in August.
