Great Wall has revealed that their next generation ute that it going to be purely electric-powered and have a range of 500km.

The double cab use that is especially designed for Australian and New Zealand conditions will also feature a few optional extras that Great Wall hasn't offered previously.

It has been reported that a spokesperson from Great Wall said that "the Australian market is ready" for an all-electric double cab ute.

Sporting a tough new off-road look, the "GWM 4x4 pickup" has the hardware to match its looks, coming standard with a three way locking differential as well as a snorkel and a winch. It will be able to wade up to 900mm and features a seven-setting off-road mode selector system.

The new render we have closely resembles the "off-road adventure" sketch that Great Wall released last week. In China, the Great Wall will be offered in both long and short wheelbases, dual or single-cab bodies, and the "off-road adventure" model.

It will share Haval's H9 SUV platform, which is designed to offer "greater comfort and refinement while ensuring superior 4WD and load-carrying abilities" than what's currently available.

While no specific power trains have been confirmed, we can imagine that one option will be the refined 2.0-litre turbo-diesel four cylinder that was briefly used in the H9.

The Chinese manufacturer has previously mentioned that they were planning to go after the Ford Ranger and the Toyota Hilux with this model, so we're expecting a minimum braked towing capacity of 3000kg.

Along with other new Great Wall models, it will be officially unveiled at the Shanghai motor show later this month.
