McLaren's 'Sport Series' line of cars has gone from strength to strength since they debuted with the 570S in 2015.
Yes, they might sound a touch bland and feel a little less 'soulful' than their Italian cousins. But that hasn't stopped them achieving critical praise from across the world as being a stellar all rounder.
Since launching the 570S, McLaren have drip-fed a series of follow-up models. These included the 570GT and the 570S Spider, and now it looks like it's time again for another. Though this time it's going to be slotting in at the very top of the pile.
McLaren have teased a 570LT — or 'Long Tail' — across social media via this single image. It showcases a much angrier and more comprehensive rear diffuser set-up, similar to that previously seen on the 675LT.
A supporting teaser video has illustrated that it's also likely to be based around the same 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, but beyond that details are thin on the ground.
Long Tail models, as McLaren anoraks will likely already know, aren't a new phenomena. Arguably the most sought-after McLaren ever made is a Long Tail — the revised and revamped F1 GTR.
From that perspective we can likely assume a few things about this 570LT. It'll be stiffened up, it'll come with more carbon fibre and less weight, it'll have more horsepower, and on track it'll probably give its 'big brother' 720S a big old scare.
More as we have it.
