- Range-topping Model Y hits 100km/h in 3.5 seconds.
- New battery tech, upgraded chassis.
- Sharper touchscreen with 80% more pixels.
Tesla has confirmed pricing and specification for the Model Y Performance in New Zealand, the go-fast flagship that's now available to order, with Kiwi deliveries late this year.

The new model joins the existing Standard Range (RWD) and Long Range (AWD) versions. At $100,900 it's a heady $23k more than the Long Range, but it brings a lot of extra... performance.
Tesla's not big on disclosing battery sizes or too much specific technical detail, but it does say the Model Y Performance makes 343kW, is good for 0-100km/h in 3.5 seconds and has a range of 580km (Standard Range 4.8sec/551km).
The Performance features specific front and rear fascias, new-design 21-inch Arachnid 2.0 staggered forged wheels with integrated aero covers, Performance Red brake calipers, Performance badge on the tailgate, puddle Lamps with Performance badge, gloss black finish elements, carbon fibre rear spoiler, Performance seats with powered thigh cushion extender, and carbon interior inserts.

The Performance also has a new 16in touchscreen, with thinner bezels and higher resolution, offering nearly 80% more pixels than the 15.4in display on other Model Y variants.
Upgraded chassis hardware includes new springs, stabiliser bars and bushings. The new adaptive suspension system, designed in-house by Tesla, uses a new control algorithm that adjusts in real-time to driver and road inputs.

The new Model Y Performance introduces customisable drive modes that influence the adaptive suspension, stability assist, traction, and vehicle dynamics controls. All settings are accessible through the centre touchscreen.
NZ's Model Y Performance is built at the Tesla Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg in Germany.
