Terrifying footage of a Tesla Model S catching fire while sitting in an underground car park has come out of China over the weekend.
The footage was taken from a Shanghai carpark's CCTV system and is dated the 21st of April, just a few days ago.

In the video, you can see that the electric sedan is parked beside two Audis in the underground park. After a couple of seconds, smoke can be seen rising from underneath the car before it completely catches fire.
The security camera is briefly blinded by the explosion, when the car comes back into focus again, the Audi sitting next to it is on fire as well.
While the cars that were sitting beside the Tesla suffered some fire damage, the electric car was left as a completely guttered-smoldering mess.
Not much is known about the fire just yet, but unless there was a device placed underneath the car, it looks like the batteries might've been at fault.
As usual, Tesla jumped right into the investigation, and released this statement: “After finding out about this incident in Shanghai, we immediately sent a team to the scene. We are currently contacting relevant departments to understand the situation. Based on current information, no one was hurt,” the company said.
Here's the video that the firefighters took of the mess after the blaze was put out:
Aftermath hopefully we will hear from Tesla what truly happened. pic.twitter.com/DuFi0pW9dk
