An AA-battery powered Mercedes-Benz would be ... awful

Don't get me wrong, electric cars and hybrids are a cool thing for the environment and if you don't take an interest in them you're a terrible bag of human waste masquerading as a person ... but it's great to see skits like this one take the mickey out of the unmickeyable.

Some will say that Saturday Night Live have passed their glory days (insert cowbell references here), but they do still spring some excellent satire on their audience from time to time. Naturally in this case, it's the brilliant Julia Louis-Dreyfus (of Friends and Veep fame) behind the funny.

Her latest tie-up with SNL also successfully pokes fun at the world of car advertising, with just about ever trope from the traditional cookie-cutter modern car commercial making an appearance; the burly confident voice over, the driving through a lit and rigged tunnel — it's all there.

Why can't today's car ads be like those from the ’80s.
