The Take Charge Expo is once again running in Christchurch this year, at the Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre this wekeend: Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 November 2025.

Event focuses purely on BEVs.

Take Charge is a free-to-enter event that aims to "showcase the latest and greatest in battery electric vehicles to give the public the chance to see first-hand the vehicle technology that is available", say the organisers.

Vehicles on display this year will include: BMW iX2, BYD Atto 3, BYD Seal, BYD Sealion 7, Farizon SuperVan, Fiat Abarth 500e, Fiat 500e, Geely EX5, Geely Riddara RD6, Honda e:N1, MG4, MG S5 EV, MINI Countryman, Nissan Ariya, Tesla Model Y, Volkswagen I.D. Buzz Pro, Zeekr 009 and Zeekr X.

Z Energy will also have an official presence, sharing information about its public charging network.


Last year's event. But 2025 will see several new brands on show.

Prizes will be available, courtesy of some of the exhibitors.

“The Take Charge Expo is free to attend to encourage anyone with an interest in battery electric vehicles to come along and see first-hand the range of technology on display and ask questions of the expert exhibitors,” says Take Charge Events Limited director Kevin Crutchley. 

Take Charge Expo will be open to the public on Saturday 1 November from 10am-5pm and Sunday 2 November from 9am-4pm.

Visitors can enter Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre via the Cathedral Square entrance.
