The Lexus LC 500 hit the world earlier this year, and made quite an impression. For many, they set a new benchmark for the Japanese luxury marque — namely in terms of style and luxury.

But, some noted the lack of finite performance on the limit. It was a bit too heavy, a bit too soft. Naturally, it didn't take long for people to speculate on whether an 'F' performance variant was going to come along.
Lexus haven't used the F name since they released the 'its-alright-I-guess' RC F. And according to numerous reports it's something that's on its way. But until today, we didn't know whether it would retain a naturally aspirated V8, or go with something different all together.
That may have changed, following an overnight report from Japanese outlet Holiday Auto.
Speaking to an unnamed source at Lexus, the publication said that the LC F would be propelled by a newly developed twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 engine, producing 621hp (462kW). It's expected to be supported by a range of aero upgrades and weight savings.
If supporting rumours are anything to go by, the engine will essentially be two of the company's turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder 8AR engines stuck together. And it could also find its way into the Lexus GS F sports sedan.
If true, the news may be the beginning of the end for Lexus' fixation with big brutish naturally-aspirated V8s. They may be somewhat 'old-world' compared to the turbocharged engines utilized by most of its rivals, but those charismatic donks have put smiles on many a face.
Progress is king, I suppose.
