New Zealand buyers who ordered one of 10 limited-run Subaru BRZ tS models (as tested by us earlier this year) will have a nice bonus when they take delivery of their cars this month: a new badge.

Subaru of NZ has renamed the 10 models Tsubasa, which comes from Japanese kanji script and means "wings". The new badge incorporates the letters of the former "tS" name (a Subaru designation for high-end sporty models) and of course it aligns nicely with previous Subaru special editions like the WRX Todoroki (another machine that came in WR Blue).
It also makes the Kiwi BRZ actually... special. Despite being a limited-run for the local market and coming with a numbered presentation key box and engraved key ring, the BRZ was essentially just a factory model in WR Blue with a manual transmission. A special name sets it apart a bit more.
The tS/Tsubasa specification features STI-tuned front and rear dampers, Brembo brakes with gold painted 4-piston front callipers and 2-piston rear callipers, larger pads and rotors, 18-inch dark grey metallic alloy wheels and 215/40 R18 Michelin Pilot 4 tyres.

All were pre-sold before they landed, but Subaru of NZ says it's working on another special-edition BRZ, to arrive late this year.
Inchcape (Subaru importer for NZ) general manager, Kym Mellow says: "We hope to be able to share news of the next limited edition Subaru BRZ in the coming months.”
