If you’ve wanted to know what 35 Ferraris all together look like, then check out this shot taken from the recent owners’ club charity run.

The cavalcade worth more than $20 million set off from Continental Car Services Ferrari’s Newmarket showroom last Sunday to raise funds for the Gastro-intestinal Cancer Institute (gicinz.org.nz).

The charity run finished at RNZAF’s Whenuapai airbase where the vehicles lined up to form the letters of the charity.

Included in the luxury charity run were two La Ferraris, an F40, F50, Enzo, and 88 GTB with online auction winners paying to be passengers. The two La Ferraris fetched $2800 and $2400 each for the privilege of being a passenger, with a total of $25,865 raised from the charity run, including entry fees from Ferrari Owners Club drivers.

One of the La Ferrari owners was GICI chairman Grant Baker, who established the charity six years ago.

The institute aimed to raise awareness of a group of cancers that affect the digestive system, which the institute said were collectively NZ’s most common form of cancer.

GICI was also investigating ways the cancers were treated in New Zealand.

“We are partway through one trial to see if you reduce chemotherapy ... from six months to three months, if the results are the same,” Baker told Driven at the event.

Baker hoped the charity run would become an annual event, and Driven knows first-hand that the public would support that. As a passenger in Continental Car Ferrari’s F12 Berlinetta, Driven witnessed the crowds who not only inspected the cars at the showroom but the public who lined the route from Auckland to Warkworth then to Helensville, attracted to the charity run by the sound of the cavalcade.
