- NZ-owned insurance company Star Insure has put a dream trip to the Goodwood Festival of Speed up for grabs.
- The package includes all travel, luxury accommodation, spending money and exclusive hospitality at the festival.
- The Goodwood Festival of Speed was started in 1993 and regularly attracts crowds of 150,000 people.
If you have ever fancied the idea of heading over to the legendary Goodwood Festival of Speed (and let's face it; if you are reading this then you definitely do fancy the idea), then New Zealand-owned specialist automotive insurer Star Insure has just announced a draw for all eligible policy holders that will appeal to you.
Valued at over $50,000, the "Ultimate Goodwood Experience" is the first major competition of this size in Star Insure’s history and offers trip for two to the Festival in the UK, including premium travel, four nights luxury accommodation in the heart of London, private chauffeur transfers, NZ$5000 spending money, and VIP access to the most exclusive hospitality suite at the Festival, the Surtees Suite.
Billed as "The Greatest Celebration of Speed on Earth", the Goodwood Festival of Speed is held on the sprawling grounds of the Goodwood Estate in West Sussex, and is the only place on the planet where fans can stand inches away from legendary Formula 1 machines, iconic Le Mans winners, and the world’s rarest supercars as they scream up the famous 1.16-mile (1.9km) hillclimb up what is essentially the Duke of Richmond's driveway.
The Duke of Richmond - Charles Gordon-Lennox, formerly Lord March - not only lends his driveway to the event each year, he is also the founder of the Festival of Speed, as well as being the president of the British Automobile Racing Club (BARC), patron of the TT Riders Association and an honorary member of the British Racing Drivers Club (BRDC). Quite the racing fan, in other words.
According to Gabrielle Byfield, GM of marketing and communications for Star Insure, the prize was designed by enthusiasts, for enthusiasts, saying "we don’t just insure cars; we live the lifestyle. We know our audience because we are our audience."
"We haven't just booked a trip; we’ve crafted an experience that only a true automotive enthusiast would truly appreciate," said Byfield.
"We wanted to give someone the chance to be right there in the paddocks, feeling the vibration of the engines and witnessing automotive history in motion. It’s an experience that money can’t easily buy, delivered by a team that understands why it matters."
Byfield said that the competition marks a "defining moment" for Star Insure, with it being the first time it has launched a competition of this scale, and a "bold statement" of where the company is headed.
"While many brands use these moments solely to chase new business, we were adamant that our existing family of policyholders - the people who have fuelled our growth from day one - come first.
"Every eligible policyholder can enter immediately; it’s our way of saying thank you for the trust they place in us."
As such, all current Star Insure policyholders are automatically eligible to enter the draw, along with any new policyholders that take up a policy between the 26th of January and the 31st of May 2026, and register their details at www.starinsure.co.nz/goodwood. The 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed takes place July 9 to 12.
